The painting was made in 2005. Peter Howson is known for painting naked celebrity portraits in various forms. The painting shows Madonna reclining while Guy’s hand is placed on her thigh. The painting is expected to fetch almost 22,000 pounds at McTear's auction house in Glasgow. As the couple divorced last year, it has generated increased interest in the painting. According to Brian Clements from the auctioneers, "The painting created a huge amount of controversy when it was unveiled a few years ago and I think it's safe to say it is one of a kind." |
