 [ 798 photos ] | Wed, 20 May 2009 12:42:59 AM On Tuesday, Angelina Jolie attended a war crime trial in the Hague, supporting the bravery of youngsters who testified against Congolese militia leader Thomas Lubanga. She is also the goodwill ambassador for the UN's refugee agency. She said "Children deserve special protection. Using children in conflict is a heinous crime and destroys the very fabric of a society". In a statement, she also said "I imagined how difficult it must be for all the brave young children who have come to testify against him". Though the leader pleaded not guilty of using children under the age of 15 in a civil war, the prosecution accuses him of abduction of young children of the age of 11, and beating and drugging them, and making the girls sex slaves. |
